James's Story

After surviving an electrical flash explosion, James had 20% of his body severely burnt. The burns affected his face, neck, arms, and his right hand. Due to the scarring, James would need therapy to stretch the affected areas. He also worked to regain the use of his hands, mouth, and eyelids along with building up his strength and endurance. James and his speech therapist worked on massaging the areas around his mouth and eyes.

This would slowly stretch the burnt areas to allow for chewing and contracting his facial muscles. His occupational therapist collaborated with him on techniques and splinting of his hand and arm. They worked to determine the best approach to help with his recovery while he regained strength and endurance with his physical therapist.
